February Greetings Everyone!
January was a busy month for me! Not only did we work on this issue, but we completed the interviews for my first book, “What the Super Stars of Real Estate Have in Common”.
One thing that all of our cover stories and my book co-authors have shared with me is the importance of taking time off from building their real estate businesses.
They understand well that they can only run at “full steam ahead” for just so long. They not only take time to relax and unwind, but they understand the importance of spending quality time with their families who often serve as their support team.
Cruises, travel or getaways to a lake or beach house, I have learned are popular retreats for top real estate producers.
As you may know, Barbara and I have been working this beautiful magazine (Real Estate Executive and later Premier Agent Magazine) for 10 years this month. I started REE in mid February 2002 and published the first issue of Real Estate Executive in April 2002 (with Hedley Karpas as the first cover honoree) and it has evolved the most enjoyable career that I have ever had. Most of you know what a passion I have for excellence. I enjoy every detail and put a little into each issue every day.
This business has become an obsession and I have worked it tirelessly for ten years and published 119 amazing issues.
As this issue goes to press, I am going to take those same words of advice from my cover honorees and take a break.
Barbara and I will be taking our first real vacation (a cruise) in over 12 years. We will be boarding Royal Caribbean Line’s “Mariner of the Seas” (departing Galveston on January 22nd and be returning on January 29th). We will visit Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.
I don’t have to tell you that as much as I am really looking forward to this break, I am not sure just how I am going to be able to “detach” myself from my email, internet, Google, Facebook, websites, etc..
Barbara, my stepdaughter Gina, son-in-law Brad, their niece Shanna, and Brad’s mom Marlene (who will be joining us on the cruise) have told me that I have no choice in the above! Isn’t it wonderful to have a loving and supportive family?
Now, let’s talk about this month’s issue.
This month’s cover honoree is Gary Stallings of RE/MAX Vintage . You might recognize Gary as one of the original magazine covers on the “Wall of Fame” at Champions School of Real Estate. Gary was our REE cover honoree in November 2002.
Gary is a real southern gentleman who always does the right thing. You will enjoy his story!
Also in this issue, we shine the spotlight on another amazing company that you need to know...Hughes Connect, LLC.Milton Hughes, Founder of Hughes Connect, LLC, is the genius behind a unique concept that markets and promotes lenders and in turn educates and assists Realtors® in reducing the number of real estate transactions they have that go sour. Hughes Connect is a motivational, promotion,advertisement, and facilitation company. They have Area Managers throughout the country who market for the lenders and the programs that they offer to Brokers and their agents. Currently, they are in Texas, California, Arizona, and Nevada but by the year's end, they will be in 20 states.
Once you read their story, I know that you are going to want to make them part of your team to assist you in closing more business!
