Who Decides Where a Cover Photo is Taken?

We are often asked “Who decides where a cover photo is taken and what elements go into it?”

Actually, the decision of where a cover photo is taken and what goes into a cover is a group effort.

It is a creative collaboration between the cover honoree, Barbara (our Creative Director), and myself.

We start working with the cover honoree several months before the shoot and learn a lot about them through the interview and working with them on all of the “moving parts” of the cover honor. We learn even more from their team members, their broker, their affiliates, and even (sometimes) their family members!

The key consideration in location is where the cover honoree feels the best about themselves and their business. When they feel special in a location, they look good. It is pretty simple really. The location is a special place to and for them.

We have had covers shot on a sailboat, an “off road” golf cart, in front their cars, bikes, or motorcycles, in their home, outside their homes, in a builder’s model home, in various locations with the Houston city skyline in the background, in parks, and with a variety of animals which included dogs, deer, rabbits, horses, birds, etc.

After we find the ideal location for the shoot, we work with the cover honoree on the right clothes, jewelry, makeup, and hair styles that further enhance the look and feel of the cover.

This month’s cover honoree, Rhonda Williford of RE/MAX Realty Center had definite locations in her home and in Galveston where she wanted her photo shoot. Barbara went out with her looking for clothes that would bring the colors to the photo. Rhonda’s cover captures her personality perfectly. She has a terrific sense of humor and attitude about life and this cover “nails it.”

Ask any of our past 107 cover honorees (between the 3 magazines (REE, Premier Agent Magazine, and Rising Stars) and they will tell you, “Barbara is extremely good at staging of the cover and other photos we shoot for the story.”

Oh, by the way, my “job” is to watch the magic of each cover and photo session happen and mainly to just stay out of the way! I am getting better at it each month!

Before we let you get started reading this month’s issue, we at Legacy Publishing Group, are very proud to offer you, your own personal copy of the “Premier” issue of PROFILES Magazine. These (in addition to our “Charter Advertisers”) are people and companies that you need to know.

Feel free to tear the magazine out, read the profiles and consider adding them to your team of affiliates. I assure you, that they are all worth your consideration and would appreciate your business and referrals! Please tell them that you saw them in this month’s issue of PROFILES Magazine!

Good Reading, Good Sales and Success to You,
