I have an idea of what real estate was like just a few decades ago when I was a licensed Realtor® Associate in Orlando, Florida with ERA Epoch Realty in Altamonte Springs, Florida under Broker Jack Newport. What is really funny, is that we had one of the first fax machines in town in our office, but no one to fax to or receive a fax from.
Oh, the fundamentals of a real estate practice was still the same as it is today, but, it was a whole lot more challenging. Ask someone else who was there (if they will admit to practicing real estate that long ago).
In my opinion, all of the aforementioned technological “improvements” (that we couldn’t do without now) have changed our business, but, not always for the better. Is an emailed “thank you” to a client really as appreciated as a hand-written thank you card or letter? I don’t think so. Which would you prefer?
Many of today’s real estate professionals spend more time on improving the “high tech” of their business than the “soft touch/personal service.”
As much as our business has changed from a few decades ago, it is still about “people helping people.” Professionals whose job it is to assist sellers with their goals and buyers with their dreams.”
